Smash Mouth

Smash Mouth arrived in 1994 when Steve Harwell (Lead Vocals), Kevin Coleman (Drums), Greg Camp (Guitar, Back-up Vocals), and Paul De Lisle (Bass, Back-up Vocals) got together to form a ska-punk band. They signed to Interscope Records in 1996, and released their first album Fush Yu Mang in 1997. The album did surprisingly well for a first album hitting double platinum in the US and platinum in Canada. Two years later, they released Astro Lounge which gave up their ska sound for a more laid-back one. This album did even better than its predecessor by hitting triple platinum in the US, platinum in Canada, and gold in Australia. 1991 saw the loss of the drummer Kevin who was replaced by Mitch Marine who was replaced next year by Michael Urbano. In 2001, the band released Smash Mouth. The album did well, though not quite as well as the albums before it by only hitting gold in the US.

In 2003, Smash Mouth released their fourth album Get The Picture?, which was a commercial failure that caused them to get dropped by Interscope. They signed to Universal Records in 2005 and got working on their next album. They released it in 2006. The album was Summer Girl and did decently but did not liveu up to the standards they set early in their career. The band has announced that their next album will go back to their sounds focused on the early albums of Fush Yu Mang and Astro Lounge.

Here is the music video for "Walkin' on the Sun" from their album Fush Yu Mang.
