Smash Mouth arrived in 1994 when Steve Harwell (Lead Vocals), Kevin Coleman (Drums), Greg Camp (Guitar, Back-up Vocals), and Paul De Lisle (Bass, Back-up Vocals) got together to form a ska-punk band. They signed to Interscope Records in 1996, and released their first album Fush Yu Mang
in 1997. The album did surprisingly well for a first album hitting double platinum in the US and platinum in Canada. Two years later, they released Astro Lounge
which gave up their ska sound for a more laid-back one. This album did even better than its predecessor by hitting triple platinum in the US, platinum in Canada, and gold in Australia. 1991 saw the loss of the drummer Kevin who was replaced by Mitch Marine who was replaced next year by Michael Urbano. In 2001, the band released Smash Mouth
. The album did well, though not quite as well as the albums before it by only hitting gold in the US.
