Green Day

Green Day Official Site

This band has been from punk-rock, to pop-rock, and alternative rock. Started in 1987, the band originally began as a trio from Berkeley, California. The three foremen of the band were Billie Joe Armstrong (Lead Guitar, Lead Vocals), Mike Dirnt (Lead Bass, Back-up Vocals), and John Kiffmeyer (Drums). John Kiffmeyer was soon replaced with Tre Cool after the release of 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours due to John's belief that he would be better off going to college. The band started their success with their next album Kerplunk which sold 50,000 copies in the US. They followed the success of Kerplunk with Dookie which is considered their most successful album to date. It won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album and was nominated for nine MTV Video Music Awards.

More Currently, the band has taken a kick at politics with their latest two albums American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. They recently performed during the 2010 Grammy Awards with the cast of the American Idiot Broadway Show cast to the tune of their popular song "21 Guns".

Here is their song "Basket Case" from their album Dookie.
