Serj Tankian

Serj Tankian is an Armenian-American that got his start with the band Soil in 1992. Soil was a band composed of himself (Vocals, Keyboard), Daron Malakian (Guitar), Dave Hakopyan (Bass), and Domingo Laranio (Drums). In 1994, Dave and Domingo left the band and later, the band completely broke up. Serj and Daron stayed together to form a new band, which was titled System of a Down. During his years with System of a Down, Serj was well-known for lending his voice to a variety of other bands. Serj released his first album from his label Serjical Strike in 2003. The album was titled Serart and was made by Serj and his friend Arto Tunçboyacıyan. System of a Down confirmed a large hiatus in 2006 and has yet been seen back on the scene, though promised to return.

Serj continued his work as a record producer and continued lending his voice to bands. In 2007, Serj released his second album Elect the Dead. He played the majority of the instruments himself and mixed them in. Elect the Dead hit #4 in the Billboard 200 Charts. What is amazing about the album is that all songs were written and produced by himself.

Here is the music video for his hit song "Empty Walls" from the album Elect the Dead.
